Philosophy of the Halls of Shame
From Peaceful Beginnings
- I think there's a difference between not having the time or strength to get involved, and not *wanting* to get involved.
- As I've said about DIA ('doing it anyway') parents before, I think the same applies to circumcising physicians today. I think there's a difference between someone who was circumcising 20 years ago, or even 5 years ago, and someone who is picking up the knife today despite the abundance of information out there coming even from their very own med boards. ie mds KNOW Infants Feel Pain now. They can't pretend anymore that infants are objects, like they could just a few years ago. And the internet has put circ information at their fingertips and has globalized information in a way like never before. And like peds who are still pushing formula in this day and age, I think many of today's circ'ers are being controlled by greed, not brainwashing.
- I see the Hall of Shame as these items:
- those who refuse to educate the general public by denying Intactivists publication, exhibit space, lecture time, etc. (ie Skeptics Society, La Leche League, Dr. Laura show, To Tell the Truth show)
- those who support the forced genital cutting of children by promoting misinformation (ie, Gary Harryman's list of books?)
- those who directly profit from forced genital cutting of children. (ie, Vaseline, Circumstraint, Tylenol, Organogenesis, names of circumcisers, etc)
¿How about, a list of circ'ing hospitals? "Parents, guard your children if you're birthing here?"
¿How about a list of hospitals and docs who performed female circ in the past and continue to do the same to boys?
